London Property Alliance is hosting a panel discussion on the fringe of Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, exploring how good growth can unlock social value within communities. The session will highlight how public–private partnerships are driving meaningful change in central London, and examine the national reforms needed to attract investment in people and places across the UK.
Central London is an economic powerhouse, generating £618bn in GDP and c.£5bn in business rates for the Treasury each year. Yet the area has some of the most deprived wards in the country, where councils grapple with a lack of affordable housing, youth unemployment and energy-inefficient buildings. How can Labour harness the property industry to achieve its growth mission, whilst enabling councils to utilise the economic benefits of development to invest in its local communities?
Our speakers include:
- James Raynor, WPA Chair & Chief Executive, Grosvenor Property (panel chair)
- Olivia Harris, WPA Board & Chief Executive, Dolphin Living
- Cllr Adam Hug, Leader of the Council, Westminster City Council
- Carl Konadu BEM, CEO & Co-Founder, 2-3 Degrees
- James Thomson CBE, Deputy Chair of Policy & Resources, City of London Corporation
The event is outside of the secure zone and open to all. Please RSVP to william.green@cwpa.org.uk if you can attend and we will share the location with you.
