London Property Alliance: Budget 2026

28 Oct 2026

In response to Chancellor John Healey’s Autumn Budget 2026, London Property Alliance Chief Executive Charles Begley said:

“Like the Prime Minister, we believe good growth should be felt in every postcode, and we welcome today’s steps by the Chancellor to give mayors greater control over locally generated revenues. This could be transformative for London and something we have long advocated for. Too often, communities feel locked out of the economic value their cities and businesses create. These reforms could help change that, enabling cities to invest the proceeds of local growth in better transport, housing, infrastructure and public services.

“As the country’s economic powerhouse, London needs the tools to invest in its future and fulfil its vital role in the national economy. The suite of new funding powers and investment mechanisms announced today could finally unlock major infrastructure projects Londoners have waited decades for, from the regeneration of Euston to the long-awaited transport schemes such as the Bakerloo line extension and international services from Stratford. That investment is critical to keeping the capital globally competitive, which is good for London and good for the UK.”
