On behalf of CPA and WPA members, London Property Alliance has responded to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ consultation on improving the implementation of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) for minor, medium and brownfield development.
In the response, the Alliance states its support for the Government’s aspirations to improve the implementation of BNG. However, we note that whilst development should be encouraged to maximise biodiversity on site wherever feasible, this must be balanced against other planning considerations – for example, energy efficiency measures, heritage preservation/enhancement, flooding considerations and public realm improvements – on a case-by-case basis.
