Glass, Timber, Steel: The future of development

10 Jun 2026 to 10 Jun 2026
8:00 am to 10:00 am

This seminar will explore how a new generation of workplaces is reshaping the development landscape, with sustainability, wellbeing and accessibility now central to design and delivery. As decarbonisation becomes a defining force in the built environment, the sector is increasingly looking to alternative materials and methods to reduce embodied carbon and support more circular approaches to construction.

Taking place at Timber Square, Landsec’s landmark Bankside scheme and the UK’s largest cross‑laminated timber commercial development, the event will examine how materials such as mass timber, reused glass and steel are being deployed in practice to deliver lower‑carbon commercial space.

A presentation on Timber Square will open the session, followed by a panel discussion bringing together industry leaders to explore the opportunities and challenges associated with these approaches, including supply chains, insurance and long‑term scalability, and what they mean for the future of London’s commercial development.

Building tours of Timber Square will be available following the seminar.
