LPA statement on proposed reforms to the planning system

18 Dec 2025

In response to proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), London Property Alliance Chief Executive Charles Begley said:

“We strongly welcome the new emphasis that the Government has placed on recognising the benefits of economic growth in the planning balance. This is an important step in the right direction. Further clarity on this complex issue would help to ensure we are delivering the high-quality workplaces that boost productivity and drive economic growth.

“Offices underpin the UK’s service sector economy, which in turn accounts for 83% of the country’s GVA. We want to the see the Government move further and class offices as critical economic infrastructure to reflect their outsized role supporting jobs and growth.”
