London Property Alliance response: Planning committee reform: statutory consultation on draft Regulations and guidance

23 Apr 2026

London Property Alliance has submitted a response to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s consultation on the draft Regulations and guidance for the reform of planning committees. This follows our previous response to the technical consultation on the same topic.

In our response, we support the Government’s ambition to streamline and speed up the planning system, making it more efficient and proportionate to support timely decision-making.

However, we emphasise the importance of clear and robust guidance to ensure the reforms do not introduce unintended delay or place an additional burden on applicants. We highlight the role of effective triage systems in supporting appropriate delegation of applications and call for greater clarity in the guidance on how the system could operate.
